Entrepreneurial city par excellence, Avilés and its entire
region is known for the iron and steel industry, but also for
a historical and cultural heritage with more than a mil-
lennium of history, for shing, commerce, sports, leisure
and, why not to say it, for a gastronomy in line with the ex-
cellent quality of Asturian products.
Giant Leap Forward
As the third largest city in the Principality, and the epicenter
of Asturian mining, Avilés gave a giant leap forward thanks
to the proposal designed by the Brazilian architect Oscar
Niemeyer. Prior to the arrival of his iconic project, on,
the city was home to the La Magdalena Exhibition Hall, ac-
companied by other traditional venues such as the Municipal
House of Culture’s Auditorium, the Palacio Valdés eatre or
the Valdecarzana Palace.
Niemeyer Center
But soon the architectural revolution arrived, crowned by the
center’s iconic tower. e Niemeyer Center has three meet-
ing rooms and an auditorium with the capacity for almost
one thousand people. It also includes the Club space in the
auditorium, the dome and the multipurpose building. An ar-
chitectural landmark for holding huge meetings.
Other Venues
A city with the commercial and industrial activity of Avilés
could not miss a venue such as the La Magdalena Exhibition
and Congress Pavilion. It has an exhibition area of, m
and is the ideal place for fairs and exhibitions of all kinds. In
addition, it has an auditorium with a capacity for people,
as well as several meeting and conference rooms, a cafeteria
and a restaurant.
For those looking for an event with a dierent touch, the
proposal goes a little further than Avilés, in the nearby sh-
ing village of Luanco. And of course, a town where as you set
foot already smells of the sea, it is the ideal place to locate
the Maritime Museum of Asturias.
Sports And Cider Bars
e natural areas surrounding Avilés oer an endless selec-
tion of activities: canoe trips, hiking, mountain climbing,
horseback rides, snowshoeing, and surf, among others. e
natural setting is the perfect setting for any type of team-
building activities related to sport. On the other hand, don’t
miss the opportunity to visit a sidrería (cider bar) and enjoy
some tapas, an excellent way to get to know the area’s cui-
sine. With the so green pastures that Asturias has, the most
natural thing is to have cheeses that are recognized through-
out the world and that are winning prizes in almost all the
competitions in which they are presented. is is the case
of those made in the La Peral cheese factory, which, despite
its international projection, preserves the family character
of the company.

Ciudad emprendedora por antonomasia, Avilés y toda su
comarca es conocida por la industria siderúrgica, pero tam-
bién por un patrimonio histórico y cultural con más de un
milenio de recorrido, por la pesca, el comercio, el deporte, el
ocio y, por qué no decirlo, por una gastronomía en línea con
la excelente calidad de los productos asturianos.
Salto de gigante
La tercera ciudad del Principado de Asturias, epicentro de
la minería en la región, dio un salto de gigante gracias a la
propuesta del arquitecto brasileño Oscar Niemeyer. Hasta el
desembarco de su icónica obra, en, la ciudad tan solo
contaba con el Recinto Ferial y de Congresos La Magdalena,
complementado por sedes tradicionales como el Auditorio
Casa de Cultura, el Teatro Palacio Valdés o el Palacio de Val-
decarzana.
Centro Niemeyer
Pero llegó la revolución arquitectónica coronada por su
icónica torre. El Centro Niemeyer cuenta con tres salas de
reuniones y un auditorio con capacidad para casi un millar
de personas. A esto se añaden el espacio de la Sala Club, la
cúpula y el edicio polivalente. Todo un hito arquitectónico
para reuniones enormes.
Otros venues
A una ciudad con la actividad comercial e industrial de Avilés
no le podía faltar un venue como el Pabellón de Exposiciones
y Congresos de La Magdalena. Dispone de una supercie ex-
positiva de. m y es el lugar ideal para ferias y muestras
de todo tipo. Además, cuenta con un auditorio con capaci-
dad para personas, así como varias salas de reuniones y
conferencias, cafetería y restaurante.
Para quienes busquen un evento con un toque diferente,
la propuesta va un poco más allá de Avilés, en la cercana villa
marinera de Luanco. Y, claro, una localidad en la que según
se pone el pie ya huele a mar es el lugar ideal para ubicar el
Museo Marítimo de Asturias.
Deporte y sidrerías
Descensos en canoa, senderismo, alpinismo, rutas a caballo,
raquetas de nieve, surf y un sinfín de actividades son las que
ofrece los alrededores de Avilés. Su entorno natural es un es-
cenario perfecto para cualquier team building relacionado
con el deporte.
Por otra parte, acercarse a una sidrería y tomar unas ta-
pas es toda una experiencia y una manera de conocer la
cultura gastronómica de la zona. Con los pastos tan verdes
que tiene Asturias, lo más natural es tener unos quesos re-
conocidos en todo el mundo y que ganan premios en casi
todos los certámenes en los que se presentan. Es el caso de
los que se elaboran en la quesería La Peral, que, a pesar de
su proyección internacional, conserva el carácter familiar
de la empresa.
