Salamanca
In addition to its priceless historical heritage, the Sala-
manca university town also features high-quality infra-
structure for MICE tourism: more than 4,500 hotel beds
and130 event rooms with a total capacity of up to30,000
people. Salamanca’s intimate dimensions allow every-
thing to be easily reachable on foot, and it is only two hours
from Madrid by highway, making it a dicult location to
beat.
Academic Character
e academic character of Salamanca that has permeated
its buildings for centuries crystallizes in a large number of
educational events, which require just the right type of prem-
ises. Here the most remarkable venue of all is the Castile and
León Conference and Exhibition Center, a futuristic building
that bets on large open spaces in three dierent areas: the
congress hall, with an auditorium with , seats; the exhibi-
tion hall and the outdoor bleachers. In total, events for ,
participants can be organized.
With a slightly more classic air, there’s nothing better than
the Hostelry Archbishop Fonseca College, a space that is ooz-
ing with history and is capable of hosting events for a thou-
sand guests.
Cultural Heritage
For UNESCO, it was a dicult task to choose the most impor-
tant among the many exceptional architectural monuments
found in Salamanca. So dicult, in fact, that they opted to
resolve the issue by ocially recognizing the entirety of the
city’s historical centre. is decision was very apt: Salaman-
ca’s architectural legacy includes the University, the wonder-
ful Plaza Mayor, the Casa de las Conchas, the Old and New
Cathedrals, the Convent of San Esteban, and the Escuelas
Mayores, among other. Taken together, they are a treasure,
forged in ancient stone, unforgettable for the visitor.
Cheeses And Hams
Discover how the cheeses of the “dehesa” (a unique Span-
ish pasture landscape) are made, visit the Castillian Churra-
breed of sheep, and nish by having a country lunch stocked
with the natural foods of the Duero are great incentive op-
tions. Another one is a visit to Guijuelo’s ham factory, a temp-
tation that is dicult to resist. e ham produced here is a
product recognized internationally for its quality, in addition
to other exquisite Iberian meat products.
Rock Paintings
The unique archaeological site of the Valle del Côa and
Siega Verde is located on the banks of the Águeda river,
about km downstream from the Salamanca provincial
town of Ciudad Rodrigo. It was a special location chosen
by Prehistoric peoples due to being a crossroads and the
ability to control and observe the animals that habitually
ocked to this watering place.

de dos horas por carretera, hacen de ella un destino difícil
de batir.
Carácter académico
El carácter académico de Salamanca impregna sus edicios
desde hace siglos y cristaliza en un gran número de eventos
educativos, y para eso se necesita equipamiento. Aquí el que
despunta sobre todo es el Palacio de Congresos y Exposicio-
nes de Castilla y León, un futurista edicio que apuesta por
los grandes espacios diáfanos en tres áreas diferenciadas: el
recinto de congresos, con un auditorio de . plazas; la sala
de exposiciones, y el graderío al aire libre. En total se pueden
organizar eventos para . participantes.
Con un aire un poco más clásico, nada mejor que la Hos-
pedería del Colegio Fonseca, un espacio que rezuma historia
y que es capaz de acoger eventos de un millar de invitados.
Patrimonio cultural
La Unesco lo tuvo difícil cuando se planteó distinguir algu-
no de los excepcionales monumentos de Salamanca. Hasta
tal punto fue complicada la elección que optó por resolverla
quedándose con la totalidad del casco histórico de la ciudad.
Y no era para menos: la Universidad, la maravillosa Plaza Ma-
yor, la casa de las Conchas, la Catedral Vieja y la Nueva, el
convento de San Esteban, las escuelas Mayores… Un tesoro
forjado en piedra ancestral y un lujo para los visitantes.
Quesos y jamones
Averiguar cómo se hacen los quesos de dehesa, visitar las
ovejas churras castellanas y nalizar haciendo un almuerzo
en el campo para degustar los alimentos naturales del Duero
son magnícas opciones de incentivo. La visita a una fábrica
de jamones de Guijuelo es también una tentación difícil de
resistir, un producto de calidad reconocido internacional-
mente, primo hermano de otros ibéricos también exquisitos.
Arte rupestre
La singular zona arqueológica del Valle del Côa y de Sie-
ga Verde se encuentra en las márgenes del río Águeda, a
unos km aguas abajo de la localidad salmantina de Ciu-
dad Rodrigo, en torno al puente y el viejo molino del mis-
mo nombre, donde el curso del agua tiene su último vado
antes de encajarse en las Arribes y en el que permanecen
las pozas llenas incluso en los momentos de mayor estiaje.
Fue lugar especial elegido por los hombres de la prehistoria
por tratarse de una zona de paso y un privilegiado punto de
control y observación de los animales que acudían a este
abrevadero permanente.
